Teen Programs at the Contemporary

The Contemporary Austin is a local art museums heavily invested in connecting to the local art community, including teen artists! They do this through a number of programs, including:

Teen Tumblr

An active forum featuring the voices and work of young artists.

Teen Council

"The Teen Council serves as an advisory council to The Contemporary Austin and as ambassadors for teens within the museum and community. For creative leaders of all kinds; need not be an artist to apply. "

(Applications are now closed for the 2016-2017 school year, but keep it in mind).

Young Artists

This program is a free pre-professional program that helps its members explore artistic careers, new media, and portfolio development.

(Applications for the fall semester are due September 16).

Teen Artists + Mentor Program

This program "pairs high school students with professional "artist-mentors" to conceptualize and complete a long-term artistic project in any visual art field (photography, drawing, animation, sculpture, film, painting, etc)." Young Artists is a prerequisite for this program.

(Application for 2016 are closed. Check back later for 2017 applications).

Teen Volunteers

Participants volunteer at the Art School at Laguna Gloria, assisting instructors by "facilitating student education, helping with any children that need extra assistance, and providing supervision during snacks and breaks".
